Dear SLP WG members:

Please evaluate Gian Paolo's request below.

Similar to Massimo Bertinelli, I am also in favour of making the Next Generation Uplink 230.2-G-1 into a Silver CCSDS book, since as Massimo points out “the work of the NGU WG is long concluded; normative material (e.g. short LDPC for uplink) that traced its origins to NGU is now covered by the TC coding Blue Book; performance material will be covered in the new version of
the TC Green Book (basically completed, missing only a small section before proceeding with it).”

Please provide to me your comments by Wednesday 20 March, and I if you do not respond I will interpret that as agreement with the proposal.

Best Regards,

Greg Kazz
Chairman SLP WG

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [SLS] Reconfirmation Review for 230.2-G-1 Next Generation Uplink Next Generation: Proposed Historical designation

Dear All,
among the documents to be reviewed in 2019 there is:
------------------------------------
230.2-G-1 Next Generation Uplink Next Generation
Released July 2014
Reconfirmation Review due July 2019
Available at https://public.ccsds.org/Pubs/230x2g1.pdf
-----------------------

The book was produced by the "Uplink Working Group" (chaired Greg if I remember well).
This group does not exist anymore and it does not look worth an effort for resurrect it.

After some preliminary discussion, an indication for silverization is evident.

Considering the fact that the NGU WG does not exist more, I want to poll all the existing WG in SLS Area to verify if there is any disagreement with the proposal to give the CCSDS Historical designation (Silver Book) to this document.
As you know, this designation is reserved for any approved CCSDS document that has been superseded by a more recent version or is for any other reason considered to be obsolete.

Could you please forward this mail to your WG as appropriate to check if there is consensus for silverizing this book?
The deadline for comments requesting reconfirmation and/or modification is Thursday 21 March COB.
In case consensus across the SLS Area is confirmed, a relevant Area Resolution will be issued.

Thank you for your collaboration and best regards

Gian Paolo
