[Moims-dai] Comments on Hemmje-Engel draft os 6.1.5

Good Morning,

 

here comes a completed draft, i.e., a revision of our earlier incomplete draft in which an exemplar figure has been added.

 

Furthermore, we have addressed Terry’s comments, amongst others those important ones regarding the definition of a Functional Area as related to a Functional Entity. As the overall standard uses both terms in various places but never defines their relationship, we have defined it in such a way, that I a) makes sense now and b) does not require any changes in any other place of the standard.

 

Finally, the example that we have chosen is not deliberate but to some degree “representative” for many architectures of 3-tier-OAIS as they already exist in reality based on so-called model view controller architectures which are in widespread use in nowadays IT infrastructures. So we hope it will serve the purpose well.

 

Looking forward to your comments in our meeting in San Antonio on Tuesday.

I've made 2 or 3 wording changes to Matthias' submission, mostly to English syntax, but the bulk of my contribution is in comments associated with specific spots in the text. 

I use LibreOffice on this machine, so my comments are in Open Document Text (ODT) format.  Word should be able to open it (you might need to use Word's 'recovery' function).

together with my colleague Felix Engel, I have drafted a new text trying to capture the nature of Virtual Archives with Distributed Functional Areas or Entities. It still needs good example entities and a bit of polishing as it has been derived from 6.1.4 but maybe it is a good starting point for a new 6.1.5 including an additional figure in this area.

 

Maybe we can discuss this in todays meeting.
