[Cesg-all] What a surprise after a sheriff "mery go around" in the Westin 7th floor

From the SEA perspective many of our area WG are, by design, intended to do work that cross cuts other areas, and thus requires interactions with them.  My observation is that every time we have a four day meeting we lose significant opportunities for the necessary cross-WG interaction.  Most often this means that these important working sessions do not occur, or that they are compressed into a one hour “status” session which provides for contact, but no useful work.

Perhaps a better approach would be to try and do a more optimal schedule of meeting rooms that used fewer of them for the full five days.  Since there always seems to be a peak on Tuesday and Wednesday maybe we could avoid that by insisting that some of the meetings shift to Thursday and Friday?  It makes scheduing the rooms a little more complicated, but it should not be that difficult, given knowledge of the relationships and constraints.  This is not rocket science.

There were always discussions in the past about

  *   4 or 5 days meetings
  *   the need (and requirement to the meeting host) to have minimum 15 meeting rooms in parallel with its associated costs.
  *

I have just went through all meetings rooms, and there are only 8 meetings on-going out of the 12 planned

Some thoughts from the CESG Chair

  *   Are the advocators of 5 day meeting right ? Could we have done this meeting in 4 days ?
  *   If my Agency would be the host, I would be upset due to the charges of the hotel per meeting room / day within the current budget constraints

@ WG Chairs, ADs/DADs : Something to reflect within the WGs and the Area Plenaries tomorrow

@ ADs/DADs : to be discussed during the forthcoming CESG / CMC meetings
