Dear all,
this is to recap the outcome of the last PnP telecon and to prepare
discussions for the next one (2nd of July).

It has pointed out how the Satellite Data Model (SDM) from AFRL serves as a
data, device, and application broker, matching applications with data sources
and destinations and providing standardized descriptions of data and message
formats from XTEDS documents stored by PnP devices.
As a consequence, it has been identified the need for the SOIS architecture
to include a service/entity similar to the SDM for storing knwoledge on
available devices capabilities managing associations between service/data
producers and service/data providers on a publish/subscription basis.

QUESTIONS RAISED:
- is the definition of this service in the scope of the SOIS PnP Wg ?
- Shall SOIS and AFRL use a common data model for storing and discoverying
devices capabilities ? Or do they have to converge only to a common device
EDS format (i.e. XTEDS) ?

AMS vs. PNP
Scott burleigh gave an overview of the AMS service (especially w.r.t.
semantic of AMS message subjects)
Scott explained how SOIS-AMS is not a distributed information base but can be
used to support a distributed information base system. The manager of a
"repository of knowledge" for PnP devices could be an AMS application making
use of AMS services. In AMS terrms, the publish-subscribe mechanism can be
handled by the interaction of 3 different entities:
1) The configuration server
2) The registrar
3) the Consumer of AMS messages
It has been also noted that it is important to distinguish between provided
data and provided capabilities of a PnP element.

QUESTIONS RAISED:
 - Can AMS be used to support SOIS-PnP mechanism for discoverying device
capabilities and for managing associations between service/data providers and
consumers ?

Hope this covers all the discussed topics.
Please, feel free to add to it or correct me if needed.

Sorry everyone,

I've got stuck in a project meeting that will take the rest of the day.
Please don't abandon the telecon just because of my absence.
