Dear SLP WG,

I’d like to get your support to review the following three technical areas for discussion at our upcoming Fall meeting, currently scheduled for Nov 5-6, 2023 at The Hague Marriott.
Registration at the ccsds.org website is now open.

  1. Draft USLP 732.1-P-2.1 is undergoing Agency Review – See https://public.ccsds.org/review/default.aspx and the review closes on Oct. 31
  2. ESA has written a RID against SPP. My approach and preference is to treat it as a Technical Corrigendum. It concerns the option to allow idle packets to not have an incrementing packet sequence count. It was an existing requirement in SPP V1.0. Please see: https://cwe.ccsds.org/sls/docs/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2Fsls%2Fdocs%2FSLS%2DSLP%2FMeeting%20Materials%2F2023%2FFall&View=%7BAE8FB44C%2DE80A%2D42CF%2D8558%2DFB495ABB675F%7D& (SPP Update directory)
  3. There have been several discussions taking place about Lunar Communications. This involves two inputs from SLP WG in the form of normative annexes in 211.0-B-6 (Prox-1 SDLP): a) Default Session control parameters for Mars and Lunar Operations, and b) S and Ka band directives for Lunar. Please see the following two files for the current state of those annexes. They will be discussed with the goal of coming to consensus at the joint SLP/C&S/RF&Mod meeting planned for Wed. Nov 8. See the above URL but under the subdirectory: Prox-1 Lunar

Your comments as always are most welcome!

Best regards and hope to see you at the meetings,
Greg
