Subject: APID definition for Space Packet Protocol: RID responses and Draft text from ESA

Greg,
the following responses to RIDs have been discussed with Chris and Marjorie.
The proposed text for the RID responses is shown below and is also in the attached text file.
You find here attached also (our Draft 3 version) of the amendments to the SPP Blue Book.

Please consider these responses as ESA input for the discussion of the RIDs.

I hope we will be have to have a proper discussion in Colorado Springs (Peter, will you be there, please?) to finalize this publication of Pink Sheets.

Ciao

Gian Paolo

Responses to RIDs SEA-001 to -004 on SPP Pink Sheets: March 2009

SEA-001
Summary of the RID: Remove TM and TC books from normative references in
section 1.7.
Suggested disposition: Accept
Suggested text for disposition:
If 133.0-B is changed as proposed in response to RIDs SEA-002 and -003,
then there will be no normative references to these TM and TC books and
they can be removed from the list in section 1.7. References to these
books will be kept in the informative references in Annex B (now Annex
C).

SEA-002
Summary of the RID: Remove the two paragraphs, added by the Pink
Sheets, from section 2.1.1, immediately above Figure 2-1.
Suggested disposition: Accept
Suggested text for disposition:
The existing text in sections 2.1.1. and 2.1.3 has led to
misunderstandings about the use of the APID and the APID Qualifier to
provide the Path ID of an LDP. Revised text is being proposed for
sections 2.1.1 and 2.1.3. The revised text omits the paragraphs covered
by the RID. [A draft of 133.0-B containing the proposed text is being
sent to the SLS-SLP Chair.]

SEA-003
Summary of the RID: Replace the two new sections 4.1.2.3.4.3 and
4.1.2.3.4.4 with a single new requirement that avoids the normative
references to the TM and TC books.
Suggested disposition: Accept
Suggested text for disposition:
The proposed wording for the new section 4.1.2.3.4.3 is:
"The APID may uniquely identify the individual sending or receiving
application process within a particular space vehicle."

SEA-004
Summary of the RID: Add a sentence to the new section 4.1.3.3.5, to say
that the presence of the error control field is established by
management.
Suggested disposition: Accept
Suggested text for disposition:
It is proposed to add a new sentence to the end of section 4.1.3.3.5.
The first part of the sentence adds the suggestion from the RID. The
field needs to be static, so that is included in the sentence as well:
"The presence of the Packet Error Control Field shall be established by
management and shall be fixed for a given Path ID throughout all Mission
Phases."
The Pink Sheets already contain an amendment to add the Packet Error
Control Field to the managed parameters in Table 5-1.
