MIA members, I hope you’ve had a great Spring. Summer starts tomorrow. I wanted to give a quick update and then assign some homework.

Streaming Services Green Book : We’ve resolved all the CESG comments except the ones received from Peter Shames. I am still waiting to here back from him regarding the disposition of all his comments. Hopefully we’ll receive that soon and can get that book published.

RTP White/Blue Book: I distributed our first draft for the RTP book in February (It is attached for your convenience). Review of that book got sidelined with all the Green Book dispositions. I’d like you all to review it if you haven’t already and provide any comments/adds/deletes by the 2nd full week of July. I plan to set up a teleconference that week to go over your comments to this book plus a proposed prototype from DLR’s Jeremy Mayer.

Here’s Jeremy’s prototype proposal:

From Jeremy: In short, we would grab the MPEG-TS/H.265 data from the encoder using some onboard computer (which just has to run Linux), encapsulate it within bundles (as outlined in the video-over-DTN green book), and send it to the HOSC PW gateway, who would be responsible for S/G transmission. Once on the ground, we would connect via MPCC or TReK in order to receive the data and pipe it to Col-CC, where we would de-capsulate it, recreate an MPEG TS, and send it to a decoder, while archiving it for later transmission (as a file) to Melanie and back to HOSC. We would transrate it back to HD, re-encode, and transmit it to HOSC & OMT-PR. When all is said and done, we would have an LOS/AOS aware 4K transmission system which doesn’t require any additional hardware, besides what exists on board. We also don’t have to use any operational assets, besides that which exists at OMT-PR and a bit of the Col-CC Public Affairs interface.
