Please review your charters and revise per the instructions below.

Thanks,

Subject: [CESG] REVIEW AND UPDATE OF CHARTERS
Importance: Low

Area Directors: the current (March 2006) CCSDS Operating Plan -
containing
the approved Working Group (and BOF) charters - is attached..

Since any WG which is operating either beyond its charter or on a
schedule
that isn't conforming to its charter is subject to termination by the
CMC,
it is important that you check to see how well the groups are doing. At
the
June CCSDS Management Council meeting the CMC will review of your
Area's
progress in the context of what the plan states. If you find that an
approved WG Charter needs update, here's how you do it.

1. Current individual charters have been saved as separate files in the

CESG Private Document Library, within the CWE. Go there in discrete
steps
as follows:

http://public.ccsds.org/sites/cwe/cesg/Documents.aspx [log-in to CWE:
anyone who does not already have a CWE user ID and password should
contact
Brian Oliver <brian.oliver at btas.com> to obtain them]

Charters

Alternatively, the direct link to the Charters folder is as follows:

http://public.ccsds.org/sites/cwe/cesg/Private/Forms/AllItems.aspx?Root
Folder=%2fsites%2fcwe%2fcesg%2fPrivate%2fCCSDS%20Operating%20Plan%2f200
6%2fDrafts%2fCharters&View=%7b6911D521%2d5B97%2d44C3%2d842A%2dCF80CC075
C3A%7d

File names for the charters correspond to WG names; the numbers at the
beginning of each file name correspond to the respective subsection
within
the Operating Plan.

2. Download the charter directly from the Document Library at the above

link and to save a local copy.

3. Update the local copy of the charter to reflect current planning.
Make
sure that all changes are clearly identified, using the Word "Tools"
and
"Track Changes" pull-down menus.

4. Send the proposed charter update to the CESG for review. If
approved, we
will send it to the CMC prior to the June meeting and the CMC can then
decide whether to accept the revised charter, or to take some other
action.

Remember, it's up to you to ensure that your Working Group charters are

current. If you need to make a change, take care of it now.

Best regards
Adrian
