[MOIMS-NAV-EXEC] OMM XML Constellation Example

Dear David, Dan,

Thank you for the example.

We have been thinking at CNES for the past 6 months of the way we would get the OMMs automatically from the SpaceTrack, essentially due to the fact that the 9-digit Norad numbering will put an end to the historical TLE format. I also noticed that the SpaceTrack OMM format was not CCSDS compatible according to its structure (as you said) and I think it would be worthy to contact 18th SPCS to discuss about this topic (as suggested by Dan).

For your information, a Collaboration Working Group (CWG) has been recently created (I participated to the first telecon last week) in order to facilitate file exchanges between Global Sentinel participants (Global Sentinel is an international exercise between US allies whose objective is to deal with Space Situational Awareness). It has been mentioned in the first telecon that it might be convenient to make evolve some file formats exchanged on the SpaceTrack. Maybe the OMM format discussion should be discuss in this CWG too.

Best regards,

Vincent

Attachment?

I did get an attachment, but it was a blank ATT00001.txt file.

This is great David, thank you for your diligence and being proactive.
We can reach out to Space-Track if you'd like - it is probably not to anyone's advantage of they aren't following the standard.

Subject: OMM XML Constellation Example

Dan:

Attached is an example of an NDM/XML combined instantiation using data from https://www.space-track.org/ . It's OMMs for 5 of the satellites in the Starlink constellation. I originally planned to do 10 in the example, but because the Space Track OMMs don't conform to the CCSDS Nav WG schema without a lot of doctoring (mostly in the structural tags which they did not implement), I cut it down to 5. But it illustrates the potential in my opinion. A computer could spit out in no time a daily file for the entire constellation as often as necessary

For your consideration,
David
