Mario/Brigitte:
Per your request, here is the "simple report" on Nav WG projects as of our 16-May-2018 telecon.
Re-Entry Data Message (RDM): Our CESG Poll for the RDM Red Book Agency Review completed with conditions set by one of the AD's. Our Lead Editor has addressed the conditions and they have been approved by the AD who levied them. The revised Red Book has been provided to the Secretariat. The CMC Poll for the RDM Red Book Agency Review should be in the next batch of CMC Polls processed by the Secretariat. Prototype planning is underway.
Tracking Data Message (TDM): The CMC Poll for the TDM Pink Book Agency Review has closed with 100% "Adopt" votes, so I expect our Agency Review will commence shortly. The prototyping test plan draft is nearly complete, pending outcomes from the Agency Review.
Orbit Data Message (ODM): The current draft is P2.37, distributed in mid-February; it is currently in internal review. Next draft is expected around the end of June. It's becoming fairly mature at this point. We have proposed migration of some material from ODM Annexes to be migrated to the SANA, so we are working with the SANA Operator to set up the required registries.
Attitude Data Messages (ADM): Version 2 updates are in progress. The current draft is P1.6, distributed in January; it is currently in internal review. We still need to incorporate the XML sections. Next draft is targeted around the end of June (but this may not be accurate given that the Lead Editor was not able to attend today's telecon). A new message (Attitude Comprehensive Message) in addition to the APM and AEM will be added.
Navigation Data Messages XML Specification (NDM/XML): Start on this has been delayed. It was originally thought that this would appear after the ADM, ODM, and TDM had been revised. During the Spring Meeting an idea was proposed to remove only the TDM/XML at this time since it is closest to being completed. Then when the updated ADM and ODM are published, another revision project will be necessary.
Navigation Events Message (NEM): A first White Book is anticipated around the end of June. We are still gearing up for this project and made good progress at the Spring Meetings.
Navigation Data—Definitions and Conventions Green Book: Version 4 updates are in progress. An updated draft (3.5) is in internal review. At this point we are hoping to request the CESG Poll and publication between the Spring 2018 Meetings and Fall Meetings. The Lead Editor (at Glenn Research Center) has lost funding for standards work so progress is very slow.
Navigation Data Messages Overview - Green Book: The CMC Poll to approve this new project was completed successfully at the beginning of April. Our Lead Editor attended the Boot Camp at Gaithersburg and has already provided a first draft.
Conjunction Data Message: We initiated the 5 Year Review discussion of this standard (published June 2013) at the Spring Meetings. We quickly determined there that "retire" is not an appropriate option given the wide usage. We continue to discuss some proposed revisions from users to see if they warrant a decision of "revise", but have not concluded those discussions. A small set of corrigenda has been requested of the Secretariat in conjunction with migration of the "CDM Originator" registry information into the "Organizations" registry; the CESG Poll to apply the corrigenda is currently in progress (and for some reason must be followed by a CMC Poll... process-wise I think this is an issue that should be addressed by CESG. A corrigendum is an engineering matter that should not require the heads of delegation to concur).
Regards,
David
