James – for your reports. - Dan

Air Force Hoping to Use CCSDS NAV Standards

The Air Force reported In meetings at the Los Angeles Air Force Base on March 4, 2016 that the CCSDS Navigation standard formats appear to meet the key needs of the new Air Force Enterprise Ground System (EGS) now being planned. In 2014 NASA’s JSC and GSFC flight dynamics teams incorporated the NAV formats into NASA’s “Goddard Mission Services Evolution Center” (GMSEC) messaging standards. GMSEC is an architecture framework developed at GSFC that has already been selected for EGS. NAV data can be included as the core content of GMSEC messages, with the GMSEC header providing the detailed routing and security provisions.
