CESG (Adrian/Nestor) and affected Area Directors (Jean-Luc, Nestor, Bob): I
received this communication below (plus attachments) from ISO JTC1/SC29/WG11.
I neglected to copy you on this, and I apologize for that. The effort in
WG11 seemed related to OAIS and MPEG video, so I sent it directly to the WG
chairs (copied on this note) for DAI, MHDS and MIA. I realize that I also
need to make the CESG and ADs aware of it, so I am copying you now.
I notice that JTC1/SC29/WG11 is not on our current Liaison list:

My recommendation is that:
· Before the March meeting, the WG chairs communicate with
JTC1/SC29/WG11 to investigate any suggested common interests;
· At the March meetings, these WGs discuss this and report to the
ADs/CESG;
· At the June CMC meeting, the CESG reports on whether any further
monitoring of this activity is warranted. In particular, whether
JTC1/SC29/WG11 should be adopted with Liaison status.
Secretariat: Can you create a CMC action to the CESG to report on
coordination with JTC1/SC29/WG11? Due at the June CMC meeting.

Dear Ogura-san,
Thank you very much for your liaison statement and very interesting
accompanying information. I recognize that your work on an OAIS technical
implementation will be important to the membership of TC20/SC13 (also known
as CCSDS), and I will pass on to them your invitation for our technical
experts to join the AHG reflector and contribute opinions on the
JTC1/SC29/WG11 work.
The OAIS work is within the Data Archive and Ingestion (DAI) working group,
with chairman Don Sawyer, and I am copying him on this so he can take action
within the DAI working group. The DAI WG website can be accessed here:

Also, there are two new groups in TC20/SC13 that will be interested in this
work. They are:
The Motion Imagery and Applications (MIA) BOF with chairman Rodney Grubbs

The Multispectral Hyperspectral Data Compression (MHDC) BOF with chairman

We also invite the interested members of JTC1/SC29/WG11 to visit the websites
of these CCSDS-TC20/SC13 working groups and contribute their opinions in
those areas. Information on joining the mail lists of these groups is on
those websites.
It is important for our teams to exchange information on such New Work Items
(NWIs), and we thank you greatly for bringing this to our attention. We look
forward to further exchanges between our groups.
