The Digital Information LifeCycle Interoperability Standards Board (DILCIS
Board) are seeking reviewers for eArchiving guidelines complementing the
specifications see

mmunity-feedback/

My personal view is that despite the authors saying this is linked to OAIS,
the eARK specification of its AIP has nothing at all to do with OAIS, which
is a pity.

I did point this out in the previous review of e-ARK specifications but I
was ignored.

In the guidelines document they write:

'In the specifications we have chosen to use the term "Documentation" for
information

needed to understand the digital objects. The term includes the definition
of representation

information from OAIS and other kind of documentation needed.'

Perhaps they should just have stuck with the word "metadata"!!

The bottom line for me is that these things may be useful for rendered
objects such as documents or images etc but are of no use at all for
anything else.

There are guidelines for eHealth. The thought that my health records might
be preserved only using these standards is truly terrifying.

Regards

..David
