[Moims-dai] Question on FEDORA

Fedora is currently on version 4, and there has been a community discussion
on how to better incorporate preservation functions into the platform. Last
I checked in, the main topics were support for PREMIS and the relationship
between the Fedora repository, storage APIs, and fixity checking.

At its core, Fedora is mostly performing storage functions (such as
receiving AIPs, checking fixity (optional), and providing an API to
assemble DIPs) and data management (mostly storing serialized versions of
descriptive metadata). Specific Fedora implementations like Samvera, Hyku,
etc will add additional applications on the platform to create interfaces
for ingest workflows and access platforms.
