Hi all,

Please find below an email sent from Mike (with comments from me), but it seems that nobody received it. Hope it'll work this time.

This emails focuses on points I'd like us to discuss during next telecon or the following one.

Regards,

Daniele

Hi Daniele

1. Regarding slide 8, I would be interested to hear more about the bullet:

"Discussion with incoming AD and DAD regarding current and future projects and possible interactions with other WGs "
[Boucon Daniele] The discussion was mainly on the future projects presented during the London meeting. M Merri will organize meetings with potential other WGs during the next Darmstad meeting.

I think we need to follow the work on the information model from the new Mission Planning and Scheduling WG in MOIMS that is mentioned in the presentation. We also need to keep up with Peter Shames' efforts in SEA for a CCSDS ontology and revision of RASDS.
[Boucon Daniele]
[Boucon Daniele] Good proposal. Please find also below information from Peter Shames, I'd like to have your point of view on this:

>From Peter Shames:
... we have been analyzing the whole set of SANA registries. Much as with the XML situation, we do not yet have a good policy for the management of the set of SANA Registries. There are now 38 of them, developed independently by our Working Groups. Since we now have many active working groups and they are starting to intersect more, and to use each others information, it should come as no surprise that some of the registries that have been created now contain duplicated information model elements and definitions. The most obvious examples are where there are three or more registries of "agency" type definitions and a similar number of "person" definitions.

Your working group may be one of the key groups who care about such topics, so if you are interested I would like to share with you the draft that I have just produced for a Registry Management Policy. This is just a draft at this point, but it is intended to be brought forward more widely in the near future. If you have the time and the inclination to review it and provide feedback at this early stage please let me know.

2. What did Steve Hughes have to say during the Wednesday discussion?
[Boucon Daniele] Steve explains the topic he's working on (and what has been put in place), that is strongly related to the ICP standard we are developing. He is interested to participate (TBC).

3. I remember an action item from David asking that someone send out the FEPC (http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/nost/fep/) document. I have attached a paper that the group was working on called "Thoughts about levels of complexity and specialization in data types and structures for
storing scientific data". I have also attached a paper I did a few
years ago looking at some major contenders used by the NASA science disciplines (sciencemodelsandmethods.pdf).

Thanks, Mike
