Members of the CSTSWG ---
At the January CSTSWG meeting, I took the action to try to develop a set
of reference model terms appropriate for use in the CSTS Procedures
Definition Specification. The new set of terminology is to remove the
SLE-only orientation of the current material, which was mainly imported
from the front-end material of existing SLE transfer service
specifications.

I produced and distributed an earlier, partial version of this technical
note, which was discussed in the 15 March 2007 CSTSWG telecon. One of
the main comments out of that review was that this note should address
the "ground communications" and "ground domain" services mentioned in
the Cross Support Reference Model, Part 1: SLE (hereinafter referred to
as the SLE-RM). The latest draft of the findings and recommendations can
be found in the file "TermsForCSTSProcSpecR1" in the
CWE/CSSA/CSS-CSTS/CWE Private/Working Materials folder at
http://cwe.ccsds.org/css/docs/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=http%3a%2f%

As the source for the terms that should be re-examined, I used the list
of definitions for the SLE Reference Model found in the February 2007
draft of the CSTS Procedures Definitions specification. For each term in
that list, I looked at its definition and how it is used in the SLE-RM
and the existing SLE transfer service specifications, and I considered
whether it needed to be redefined or replaced for a more-general
applicability to cross support service (in general) and Cross Support
Transfer Services in particular. I have also tried to reflect
consideration for how this material will integrate into the larger
High-Level Cross Support Architecture (HLCSA) proposed by IOAG.

Best regards,
John
