[CMC] Norwegian Defense Research Establishment Application as a CCSDS Observer Agency

Dear CMC Members,

For the past few weeks I have been in conversation with the Norwegian Space Centre (NSC) and the Norwegian Defense Research Establishment (NDRE) about their interest in joining CCSDS as an Observer Agency. At this time, NDRE has applied to become a CCSDS Observer Agency. Their primary interest is participation in the Optical Communications Working Group. If you would, please take a moment to review their application. I have added an agenda item to the CMC Midterm Meeting on 14 February to discuss their application. If you have any questions, please let me know.

NSC has a definite interest in CCSDs participation but is not yet ready to apply. Later this year, the Norwegian Space Centre will be renamed as the Norwegian Space Agency to reflect their capacity as the national space agency of Norway. They have conveyed that their initial interest would be in joining CCSDS as an Observer Agency and that they see a definite value in CCSDs participation. There is a possibility that they would apply as a Member Agency after a period as an Observer Agency. If you have any questions about NSC, please let me know.
