The following draft CCSDS Recommended Standard has been placed on line for
CCSDS Agency review:
CCSDS 122.0-R-2. Image Data Compression. Red Book.
Issue 2. July 2005.
DOCUMENT DESCRIPTION: This Draft Recommended Standard defines an
image-data-compression algorithm applicable to digital data from payload
instruments and specifies means to control compression rate and how these
compressed data shall be inserted into source packets for retrieval and
decoding.
The due date for receipt of Agency review comments by the Review
Coordinator is 2005-9-6. More information is available at the Web site
identified below.

Proposed wording for para 2.2 : "The encoded bitstream corresponding to a frame or a stripmap, consists of a sequence of segments. Each segment is made of a header followed by a coded data field. A segment can be either fixed length or variable length depending on the operational mode selected. Values of algorithm parameters used in encoding can be indicated using the various versions of header specified in section 4. The encoded bitstream, consisting of a sequence of segments, shall be delivered reliably in sequence to provide correct data reconstruction and to avoid potential decompression error propagation (see ref [B2]). The transport mechanism for the delivery of the encoded bitstream shall support, in the event of a bit error, the ability to relocate the header of the next segment."
