   Dear Mr. Hedman,

The CCSDS is grateful that the UN COPUOS and associated groups has solicited the input of the CCSDS on this important work.  We are certain that the CCSDS input will be an essential component of the conclusions of the Working Group on Long-term Sustainability of Outer Space Activities.  We are happy to provide this input, and any other support that your teams may need, limited only by the resources that the CCSDS member agencies can provide.

Attached is a cover letter from CCSDS, a full report addressing the issues outlined in the Working Groups Terms of Reference, and an "Abbreviated" report which contains less context and background than the full report, but meets the limits which are necessary for translation into the languages of the United Nations.  The abbreviated report contains four pages of text (plus cover).  If the translation limit needs to be strictly limited to three pages, we recommend that the last three pages of the Abbreviated Report be translated.

We hope that this dialogue between our organizations will result in further collaborative activities in the future, to foster our common objectives.  Thank you again for this opportunity to participate.

The COPUOS Secretariat is in the process of sending out communication to certain identified organizations and entities identified in the Terms of Reference of the Working Group on the Long-term Sustainability of Outer Space Activities of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee.

I would be pleased to receive the official mailing address of CCSDS as well as to whom this outgoing United Nations communication should be addressed to. The communication will be sent out by the UNOV Correspondence Unit and not by OOSA directly. Please also let me know if the central e-mail address given above (secretariat at mailman.ccsds.org) should be used in any electronic correspondence by the UN.
