Gentlemen,
I would like to inject in the context of that discussion the point that a concurrent polling of the CMC and CESG is a confusing practice. We may get different views from members of the same agency. We should avoid this. I think that we should separate the roles: some polls are exclusive to the CESG for its working process. At the end every thing will surface at CMC level anyhow. The CMC polls are for final agreement / decisions from the agencies representatives.
We should address this procedural aspect at the next CMC.
Best regards, JFK

Jean-Luc,

A CMC resolution at the 2006 Fall meetings approved a concurrent CESG and CMC review of Green Books:

CMC-R-0510-14 Resolves to modify Procedures and Restructuring documents to state that Green books are reviewed concurrently by the CESG and CMC.

The concurrent review was implemented to speed up the approval process for Green Books. There were discussions about this process at both the CESG and CMC meetings. After the comments from the CESG ADs are resolved the document will be submitted to the CMC for final approval.

Regards,

Neil

Oliver,
I cannot agree with your report below.
CCSDS 350.1-G-1 was submitted to CMC without CESG approval; CESG review was
completed 14 April:

CCSDS 350.1-G-1 has been approved conditionally by SIS and SLS and only
after the 'conditions' are resolved will it be possible to submit it to CMC
for final approval.
I take the CMC voting is void.

Requirements

Secretariat Interpretation of Results: Action Completed

Inferred Secretariat Action: Interpret Requirements

Agencies are requested to provide their data compression requirements (e.g.,
hyper-/multi-spectral, radar signal, etc.) for future missions that could be
developed by the SLS Data Compression WG into CCSDS Recommended Standards.

Results of CMC poll beginning 3 March 2006 and ending 14 April 2006:

Agency has no requirements at this time: 2 (50%) (INPE, JAXA)
Agency has the following future data compression requirements: 2 (50%) (ASI,
CNES)

ASI - ASI is interested in data compression for hyper/multi-spectral and SAR
data.
CNES - At CNES level, we may be interested in developing within CCSDS
framework a solution for hyper and multi-spectral images compression. This
assumes that the charter of the WG is revised or a new BOF is created.

Results are based on responses from 4 out of 10 members (40%).

No response was received from the following Agencies:
