[CESG] Publication of Technical Complete Books

As far as I can recall, under CWE there exists no public area accessible without entering credentials. We had recently a similar issue with IETF in the request to IANA for new register codes to be applied to the upcoming Orange Book on DTN QoS. IANA requested us to have a link to the current version of the book, but this was not possible under the current configuration of cwe. Then we found a temporary solution for that, but obviously a real solution to this would be better to have soon.

Regards,

Tomaso

Dear all,

As fat as I understand, CCSDS Associates are not full members, do not consume a sharepoint license, and thus do not have access to the CWE. Thus posting these books in the WG folder would not reach everyone? Unless the public area can be accessed without an account?

<mailto:brian.h.oliver at nasa.gov> @Oliver, Brian H. (HQ-CG000)[Agile Decision Sciences] Can you help? As discussed in the last meeting with you we are seeking a possibility to make “feature-complete” standards available to Commercial Associates. Is there any way we can make this happen without giving every one of them a CWE account (which I understand is a cost problem)?

Cheers

Daniel

Yes, if an industry partner is already a member of the WG, no problem with access as they should already have a CWE account. I guess it’s a question of how public to make this – presumably this would not then just be open to any and all regardless of CCSDS "membership" status. Maybe there is a discussion to be had there. There is enough standardization of the CWE directory structure that I believe every working group, by definition, already has a "Draft Documents" folder.

I was under the impression that we would make sure that each "working group" would have an area where they would keep drafts. An industry partner who is a member of the working group would have access by default.

As for watermarking drafts, etc. - that's a good idea.

Hello Simon,

I do not recall a specific conversation as to the mechanics of this. I will note that in the past there has been concern that people do not get a hold of draft specifications thinking that they are the final product. Regardless of how this is managed, I think there needs to be some sort of marking very obviously applied warning anybody that picks up the draft that in fact it is just a draft.

Regarding the mechanics, I think Brian was required when moving to the updated SharePoint to password protect all of the CWE. So we do not currently have, like in the old days, truly public locations. It may mean that some sort of draft area has to be set-up on the main CCSDS webpage rather than the CWE.

Best regards,

-Erik

Hi,

I believe CESG had agreed that technically complete books can be placed in CWE shared area under password protection, so that the vendors like IM can access these draft standards.

Is this correct?

If so, any progress on it?

Thanks

Best regards
