[CESG] RE: Draft CFDP Pink Sheet supporting an optional 'finished' PDU in class-1

Gian Paolo,

The SIS-DTN WG identified the need for the 'finished' PDU in Class-1 CFDP, and it seemed small enough that we could 'just do it'. This is JUST for the pink sheet to allow the 'finished' PDU, and DOES NOT include larger changes to CFDP (such as modifications to allow larger files, etc.). I suggest that this project remain in SIS-DTN, since we have a draft document and the proposed changes are minimal.

It seemed more procedurally correct to start a new WG for the full-scale CFDP review, since CFDP was created by its own WG outside of DTN and has its own Green and Blue Books. The proposed 'CFDP revisisons' WG would do the work of revising CFDP according to its charter (which lists a number of possible augmentations / modifications). These changes would be (possibly big) changes to the CFDP protocol itself, and it seemed wrong to do them in SIS-DTN.

As always, there's a large overlap in the actual people involved. If the CESG / CMC thinks it's better to roll the CFDP updates into the SIS-DTN WG I'm not opposed to it, but it seems like semi-unrelated work for SIS-DTN.

Keith,
indeed I requested "the draft CWE Project for the Pink Book/Sheets" and I understand this is available at http://cwe.ccsds.org/fm/Lists/Projects/DispForm.aspx?ID=199&Source=http://cwe.ccsds.org/sis/Lists/Framework/AllItems.aspx with title "CFDP-over-BP Pink Sheet ".
However I am somehow puzzled as this CWE projects is already approved and on going within the SIS-DTN WG.
This means that the poll is not just asking to create a new WG, but it ask to create a new WG that will take charge of an existing project allocated to a different existing WG.
I think this should be clarified somehow.
The rationale for not keeping the project into SIS-DTN should also be clarified.

Regards

Gian Paolo

PS I appreciate providing the actual draft Pink sheets (727x0p5<http://cwe.ccsds.org/sis/docs/SIS-DTN/Draft%20Documents/CFDP%20Pink%20Sheet%20allowing%20%27finished%27%20PDU%20in%20Class-1/727x0p5.doc>), but they will have to be examined when Agency Review will be requested.

All,

As a condition for approving the CFDP revisions WG, Gipo asked for a copy of the draft Pink Sheet ( think he wants the pink sheet that allows the optional ‘finished’ PDU in class-1 – Gipo, if you’re requesting something else, please let me know).

The pink sheet project is in the framework here<http://cwe.ccsds.org/fm/Lists/Projects/DispForm.aspx?ID=199&Source=http://cwe.ccsds.org/sis/Lists/Framework/AllItems.aspx> and a draft Pink Sheet (actually the whole document, but with track changes and some hand-added change bars) Scott Burleigh put together is on CWE here<http://cwe.ccsds.org/sis/docs/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2fsis%2fdocs%2fSIS-DTN%2fDraft%20Documents%2fCFDP%20Pink%20Sheet%20allowing%20%27finished%27%20PDU%20in%20Class-1&FolderCTID=&View=%7b390C4ADA-A69B-4E52-A0DA-50C48F989C4B%7d>. There is one more change that needs to be made – to the Class-1 state diagram at the end of the document – to add the optional ‘finished’ PDU if requested. I’m going to send the current draft out to SIS-DTN right after this.

Gipo – does this meet your condition or were you asking for something different?
