Many thanks for the helpful comments! I updated the green book
according to the comments from both Richard and Felice. The new
version is checked in at github and at CWE in the SOIS-APP Spring 2015
meeting materials.

Here is the list of issues that I know about that could benefit from
discussion:

P 5-32
Using encoding in arguments:
Commands hide PDU's; parameters expose them. Commands need a clear
explanation.
Do they not belong in subnet SAP, but are OK in DVS and DAS SAPs?

P 5-35
Segmentation:
How do you describe subnet parameters? Are command arguments needed to
specify them?

P 5-44
Distribution of calibrators over vectors.
Also, implicit invocation of calibrators has not yet been decided.

P 5-45
"native" flag:
SDU corresponds to a PDU at device. We should describe the PDU's
somehow. Do we neet native attribute on containers?

P 5-56, 5-57, 5-58
Adapting device to software bus. Is MTS an alternative to DAS/DVS?
It's not in schema.
Mapping variables inbound and outbound through adapter EDS.
State machine responds to inbound, activity sends outbound through
adapter EDS.
How do you combine EDS's inside the onion? More device? or more component?

The "executive summary" attempts to combine the functions of the DoT
and the EDS schema.
Also, the use cases that are possible, just using data interface
information, go beyond avionics.

Whether to remove figure 3.

How to phrase statement about a space agency that acts as its own supplier.
GSFC seems to do this sometimes.

Section 4 use cases. Should some be removed?

Standard interfaces.

Device Driver development - this can be filled in from ESA's "Adoption
of EDS and Device Virtualisation" project outputs

Software component development - this can be filled in by NASA/GSFC
from their adoption of MTS EDS for cFE

Another topic in section 4.2.2 is the interchange of information
between model-based system engineering tools and EDS's, for

which some initial R&D has been done at NASA's Johnson Space Center

TBD AIT, simulators, test equipment, MCS databases -some of the stuff
Stuart Fowell and Stewart Hall have put together for the

EDS business development slides could be turned into text.

Device development - this can be filled in from ESA's "Deploying
Plug-and-Play Avionics" project or at least the proposal

1553 subnet SAP

xpointer schemes

Are variable maps needed? If so, when do they function? Is an
activity map one that does more than just copy?

Dear Ray and all,
during the course of this week I also reviewed the EDS & DoT Green Book.
Please find attached a handful of comments.

In general, considering that at the last meeting we just had the table
of content, you have done an impressive job!
I think it is a good idea to filter out offline/by email the comments
easy to solve and to highlight the important ones requiring discussion
during the Spring meeting.
It might also be useful to list the "open points" (marked in red in the
book) requiring additional work.

Best regards,
Felice.
