Dear Greg,
OK with the modifications you propose for allowing USLP variable length frames to work with 131.0, 131.2, 131.3. This will requires modifications in those 3 channel coding books to specify clearly the 2 input modes:
· Fixed length frames
· Variable length frames
Slicing might not be the best term to distinguish between the 2 modes since, for example, 131.2 uses the Generic Stream (GS) mode of DVB-S2 which implies slicing of the input stream in all cases : whether it is a stream of fixed length frames or a stream of variable frame length.
Best regards,
Gilles

Objet : [Sls-slp] Draft Modification to USLP if VLFs defined in 131.0 (TM sync & cc) etc are allowed
Dear SLP WG,
Please review my 4 modifications to the USLP BB (searchable in Word, when you use the term “Modified by GK”, that will bring you to them), if 131.0 (TM Sync & CC), 131.2 (SCCC), and 131.3 (DVBS-2) are modified to include Variable Length Frames (VLFs) when the data stream is sliced.
I clarified the two cases:
1. the use case for fixed length frames without slicing the data stream
2. the use case for variable length frames including slicing the data stream
Currently in the USLP BB online, we exclusively consider USLP limited to fixed length frames (FLF) whenever 131.0 (TM Sync & CC), 131.2 (SCCC), and 131.3 (DVBS-2) are in use.
The URL of that document (with Oct 26 in the filename) is:
https://cwe.ccsds.org/sls/docs/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2Fsls%2Fdocs%2FSLS%2DSLP%2FMeeting%20Materials%2F2021%2FFall%2FUSLP%20Blue%20Book&FolderCTID=0x012000439B56FF51847E41B5728F9730D7B55F&View=%7BAE8FB44C%2DE80A%2D42CF%2D8558%2DFB495ABB675F%7D
Of course, the final text will be dependent upon your review as well as the actual changes to 131.0, 131.2, and 131.3 by the C&S WG.
I’m particularly keen on hearing back from the C&S WG members on this thread as well.
Thanks much,
Greg
