From greg.j.kazz at jpl.nasa.gov Thu Aug 2 17:40:56 2012 From: greg.j.kazz at jpl.nasa.gov (Kazz, Greg J (313B)) Date: Thu, 2 Aug 2012 17:40:56 +0000 Subject: [Sls-slp] SDLS motivated changes to TM, AOS, TC Space Data Link Protocols Message-ID: Dear SLP, I have placed a draft power point presentation on the CWE at the URL below for your review and comment. It addresses the areas of concern that our area director, Gian Paolo has brought to our attention concerning the Space Data Link Protocol (SDLP) motivated changes to TM, TC, and AOS. In addition, I have updated the draft pink sheets for TM, TC, and AOS based upon these proposed changes. Clearly, before and at the Cleveland meeting, we will discuss the best formulations and organization for these changes. http://tinyurl.com/bpk73kr Best regards and stay cool in summer, Greg Kazz Chairman CCSDS SLS-SLP WG -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... They are the result of a second review conducted by the SLP WG to ensure that the interfaces between the SDLS book and the TM, TC, AOS Space Data Link specifications (most of which are in 5 year review now) are well matched. The first word document contains a log of proposed changes that introduces you to the disconnects we have found and the suggestions we recommend. The suggestions made are in the spirit of minimizing the changes to the SDLS book as well as the link layer books. Note that these changes in no way should interfere with the SDLS plan to publish this book on schedule. Sorry that we couldn't have come up with them in our initial review. These proposed changes came about due to the detailed review of updating the individual sections of TM, TC, and AOS due to the SDLS requirements. The second word document contains the actual red line changes that are proposed. Note that these changes have been made on top of the changes that came out of the last CCSDS meeting to the SDLS book but do not contain those original changes that SLP have already provided to the SDLS WG chair. (SLP is willing to describe each of these changes in RID form if necessary, but we hope that would not be required.) The 3rd word document is more SLP centric but is provided to you for your review as well. It is an updated version of the TM Space Data Link Blue book that limits most of the SDLS based changes to the non-normative sections of the document (Chap2) and contains only minimial changes to the normative parts of the document while creating a new Chap 6 (SDLS requirements on TM). This replaces the first attempt of updating the TM book by SLP that proposed substantial changes in Chap 4 . If feedback is positive, SLP will continue and provide an update to TC and AOS in a similar fashion. These files have also been placed on the CWE under: http://tiny.cc/zzrqiw Looking forward to your feedback. My last message said: The 3rd word document is more SLP centric but is provided to you for your review as well. It is an updated version of the TM Space Data Link Blue book that limits most of the SDLS based changes to the non-normative sections of the document (Chap2) and contains only minimial changes to the normative parts of the document while creating a new Chap 6 (SDLS requirements on TM). JL ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: "Hooke, Adrian J (9000)" > To: CESG-ALL > Sent: Friday, August 17, 2012 2:35 AM Subject: [Cesg-all] Request for longer work days at the Fall 2012 CCSDS meeting in Cleveland WG Chairs: many of you will be aware of certain excesses conducted by US government personnel when arranging conferences, e.g., http://www.federaltimes.com/article/20120416/DEPARTMENTS07/204160301/GSA-scandal-Heavy-fallout-expected The blow-back is that meeting planning rules have been drastically tightened and that consequently NASA will be unable to provide lunches or morning/afternoon snacks at the Cleveland meeting. Although there are adequate restaurants and snack places in and close to the hotel, we do expect a productivity impact since working groups will have to forage for snacks and lunches, rather than having them provided at fixed times and locations. To compensate for this time loss, I would like to request that WG chairs consider lengthening the meeting day until 6:30PM on Monday-Wednesday. Please build this into your agendas. Meetings should start at 8:30AM. Best regards Adrian Adrian J. I´m absolutely fine with Greg`s proposals - please find below some mainly editorial remarks: 132x0p11[final]_TM_NEW_SECTION: - page 1-2, section 1.5 Document Structure: don`t forget the new section 6 - page 1-5, section 1.7 References: the titel of reference [8] should be written in italics - page 6-4, section 6.1.2: "reference" should be written in lower case 355x0r2_final_SDLD_GJK: - page 1-6, section 1.8 References: the titel of reference [6] should be written in italics - page 5-2, Figure 5-1 (respectively Figure 5-2 and Figure 5-3 on the following pages): This is basically a comment for the SDLS colleagues. The figure tells us that the "MAC is computed over Primary Header, Secondary Header, Security Header and Frame Data". Isn`t this a bit misleading as with using the authentication bit mask we will - in most cases - compute the MAC only over certain fields of the Primary Header, the Security Header and the Frame Data Field - but not over the Secondary Header and the "rest" of the Primary Header. I think we should consider to re-design this figures. Best regards and have a nice weekend, Dorothea -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
