From greg.j.kazz at jpl.nasa.gov Tue Jan 25 00:45:43 2011 From: greg.j.kazz at jpl.nasa.gov (Kazz, Greg J (313B)) Date: Mon, 24 Jan 2011 16:45:43 -0800 Subject: [Sls-slp] Updated SLS-SLP Review copy of Proximity-1 Data Link Specification put on CWE for your review and comment Message-ID: Dear SLS-SLP members, I’ve attached two documents to the 2011 Spring Meeting work folder in the CWE under the URL: http://cwe.ccsds.org/sls/docs/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2fsls%2fdocs%2fSLS-SLP%2fMeeting%20Materials%2f2011%2fSpring&FolderCTID=&View={16ACDA38-FFA3-4657-8F27-B166C23C24A2} The word file contains the latest update to the Proximity-1 Space Data Link Protocol specification based upon additional edits made after the Fall 2010 Meeting in Portsmouth, VA USA. The second file (pdf) contains an update to the full duplex Proximity-1 state diagram. The PDF file is included because the diagram in the word file is unreadable – Mac vs PC translation problems. The following changes are based upon insights and comments gleaned from the implementors of Proximity-1 gained over the course of several years. The key proposed updates since the Fall 2010 meeting, based upon these insights (made in these attachments) are: 1. Full duplex state diagram contains a new state, S80, to allow for reconnecting an existing proximity-1 session. Currently, Proximity-1 does not provide guidance on how to do this. Therefore, I believe this material is really needed. 2. Alternative means of terminating a Prox-1 session using a session timeout timer added to the full duplex state diagram 3. Fixes to the Source/Destination Flag Section 3.2.2.9 text so that it contains no inconsistencies. 4. Addition of the SET PL_Extensions directive (if present) in the hail directive for both full and half duplex operations 5. Re-initialization of both FOP-P and FARM-P variables at each session start up vs only after initial turn-on 6. Addition of AR4JA(1024,1/2) code to Set Transmitter and Set Receiver Parameters directives As chairman of the SLP WG, I am planning on leading a series of telecons to address the material in this update with the goal of reaching consensus on all proposed changes since the Fall 2010 meeting before we have our next CCSDS meeting in May in Berlin. I will let you know when the telecons will occur. Most likely before the end of the regular work day at ESTEC/ESOC and new the beginning of the work day at NASA/JPL.
