Dear SLS-SLP WG,

Attached is a pink Sheet proposal (attached as a PDF file)  to the current 
version of the Encapsulation Service (see 
http://public.ccsds.org/publications/archive/133x1b1c1.pdf for the current 
blue book version).


Paragraph 4.2.2.4 Length of Length Field in the Encapsulation Service in 
the Encapsulation Service is misleading. I believe most users would 
misinterpret the current text on how to fill the remaining bytes of a 
transfer frame by using multiple one-byte fill packets. However, this 
change points out, that from an efficiency point of view, one can simply 
create one larger (than one byte) fill encapsulation packet to fill the 
remainder of the transfer frame.

Please let me know if you have any comments/concerns about this proposal.

At this week's IOAG-11 meeting it was agreed that the CMLP report is 
difficult to critique without the large amount of supporting 
rationale and analysis that lie behind the summary recommendations.

Accordingly, Les Deutsch of NASA agreed to produce and circulate this 
supplementary information. I have CC'd Les and I hope that we will 
shortly hear from him with respect for when he expects to have it 
ready to distribute.

Klaus-Juergen: please confirm that an IOAG-11 action item exists for 
Les to produce this information.

        following the proposed CRC Pink Sheets for CCSDS-132.0-B-1(TM 
Space Data Link Protocol) referenced in the mail below, please note that 
now in the SLS-CC library of CWE you find the LATEST VERSION of 3 
additional proposed pink sheets for the corrections about CRC-16 (two 
books) and CRC-32 (one book; i.e. Proxy-1).
They have been produced by ESA and University of Bologna..
All changes are in the section addressing the CRC (that for CRC-16 is part 
of the frame, for CRC-32 is NOT part of the frame)

Please provide your comments, if any, by Friday 6 July 2007.
After this deadline a resolution for the CCSDS wide review of the Pink 
Sheets will be issued.

I went to the Channel Coding CWE area but I could not locate the 3 CCSDS 
updated documents regarding the proposed changes to the CCSDS CRCs.

Could it be that if others outside of the sls-cc WG do not have permission 
to see these files?

Please send us the URL and please check the permissions issue or place them 
into a public folder for us.

        In the mail below you find the link.
It  is a long link, so it is possible some mailers are splitting it in 
more than one row.

In such a case you have to reconstruct the link, otherwise follow these 
step-by-step instructions:
- go to CWE  http://cwe.ccsds.org/default.aspx
- go to SLS home  http://cwe.ccsds.org/sls/default.aspx
- on the left side you find the "SLS Area Collaborative Tools" click on 
the + for SLS-CandS folder to show the subfolders
- show then the subfolders of Meeting Materials
- show then the subfolders of 2007
- open the folder Spring+Summer_Material 
- there you find the all files

I hope this will allow everybody to navigate trorgh the CWE folders 
jungle.

[SLS-CC] [SLS-SLP] CRC Pink Sheets for Four CCSDS Blue Books





Dear All,
        following the proposed CRC Pink Sheets for CCSDS-132.0-B-1(TM 
Space Data Link Protocol) referenced in the mail below, please note that 
now in the SLS-CC library of CWE you find the LATEST VERSION of 3 
additional proposed pink sheets for the corrections about CRC-16 (two 
books) and CRC-32 (one book; i.e. Proxy-1).
They have been produced by ESA and University of Bologna..
All changes are in the section addressing the CRC (that for CRC-16 is part 
of the frame, for CRC-32 is NOT part of the frame)

Please provide your comments, if any, by Friday 6 July 2007.
After this deadline a resolution for the CCSDS wide review of the Pink 
Sheets will be issued.

CRC's in the other books.

documents with no trouble.

At this week's IOAG-11 meeting it was agreed that the CMLP report is
difficult to critique without the large amount of supporting
rationale and analysis that lie behind the summary recommendations.

Accordingly, Les Deutsch of NASA agreed to produce and circulate this
supplementary information. I have CC'd Les and I hope that we will
shortly hear from him with respect for when he expects to have it
ready to distribute.

Klaus-Juergen: please confirm that an IOAG-11 action item exists for
Les to produce this information.
