Paragraph 4.2.2.4 Length of Length Field in the Encapsulation Service in the Encapsulation Service is misleading. I believe most users would misinterpret the current text on how to fill the remaining bytes of a transfer frame by using multiple one-byte fill packets. However, this change points out, that from an efficiency point of view, one can simply create one larger (than one byte) fill encapsulation packet to fill the remainder of the transfer frame. Please let me know if you have any comments/concerns about this proposal. best regards, Greg Kazz Chairman CCSDS SLS-SLP WG >X-Mailer: QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Version 7.1.0.9 >Date: Thu, 24 May 2007 12:47:45 -0400 >To: Greg Kazz >From: Thomas Gannett >Subject: Re: 1-page pink sheet Encapsulation Service >Cc: Ed Greenberg >X-Source-IP: mail.aiaa.org [12.154.67.148] >X-Source-Sender: tomg at aiaa.org >X-JPL-spam-score: 0.00% > >Attached. > >At 07:05 PM 5/23/2007, Greg Kazz wrote: >>Tom, >> >>Can you generate a short 1-page pink sheet, with the following change to >>4.2.2.4 Length of Length Field in the Encapsulation Service >> >>The change is: (starts with the 2nd sentence below) >> >>>NOTE - When the value of the Length of Length field is '00', there >>>is no Packet Length field in the Packet Header, therefore the length of >>>the Encapsulated Packet is one octet. Accordingly, Les Deutsch of NASA agreed to produce and circulate this supplementary information. I have CC'd Les and I hope that we will shortly hear from him with respect for when he expects to have it ready to distribute. Klaus-Juergen: please confirm that an IOAG-11 action item exists for Les to produce this information. ///adrian
