Hi All,

Thanks to all who joined the SAR AUX meeting today. I think we are making good progress on the bluebook.
Here are some notes I took today and please let me know if I miss or misinterpret anything:

  1. Michele's presentation clarifies the rate selection process based on the SAR instrument. Following the FDBAQ principle, the rate selection relies on system thermal noise, digital signal statistics, quantizer quantization noise, and the assumption of quantized distribution. The presentation is uploaded to https://cwe.ccsds.org/sls/docs/SLS-DC/CWE%20Private/125.0-B/CCSDS_Internal_Meeting_20240226_v1.0.pptx?d=w1a6580b6b7b844a584fbee25711c5b33.
  2. Miguel proposed a simplified and generic structure to the threshold and Huffman coding selection based on various inputs as shown in https://cwe.ccsds.org/sls/docs/SLS-DC/CWE%20Private/125.0-B/20240226_ccsds_sar_aux_meeting_uab.pdf. This FDBAQ could be defined as a subset of such structure.
  3. The conversation will continue during the Spring meeting to understand the necessary input for the generic BAQ approach.

Best,
Mark
