Subject: RE: Liaison statement from SFCG to CCSDS on Recommendation SFCG 42-1
Hi Bruno,
>From a first iteration with the WGs we got a first set of questions:
1. We understand that Proxy-1 frequencies are organized in two chunks. One recommended covering channels 0-4, and one covering 5-9 channels. Can missions use both hailing channels for either/or frequency chunk (mix up)?
Example: imagine a mission using hailing 0 and then frequency channels 5-8 for data transmission
1. Does 2095.1583 -2100.1583 MHz channel (2nd chunk, with the note **) require specific frequency coordination for approval since it is a shared chunk? Should we reflect this with a note in CCSDS Prox-1 book? E.g., we allow the protocol to have all channels but put a caveat that is subject to SFCG frequency coordination as per RES A26?
2. For making the hailing channel as much as possible, we would like to avoid to filter the Bi-phase-L (SP-L/PM modulation). Is it feasible for SFCG to consider to add an exception for the hailing channel to the mask in REC 41-1, in lieu that hailing channels are 2 ksps only?
Regards

Dear Andrea, dear Dennis, dear Greg,
At its annual meeting in June, SFCG finally approved the SFCG Recommendation 42-1 on the frequency channel plan for in-situ lunar data relay satellites. As a result, SFCG also approved the attached liaison statement to CCSDS to support your activities in updating the CCSDS Prox-1 protocol.
Dennis and myself were involved in the SFCG discussions and we are available in case of questions.
Best regards
