From kscott at mitre.org Wed Oct 25 15:09:59 2017 From: kscott at mitre.org (Scott, Keith L.) Date: Wed, 25 Oct 2017 15:09:59 +0000 Subject: [Sis-SCPS-INTEREST] SCPS-TP specification refresh by CCSDS Message-ID: <64B16E5C-9641-4BE1-ACC2-02CAA7027208@contoso.com> We’re well past time to either refresh (keep) or retire the SCPS-TP specification within CCSDS. There’s little overhead to simply refreshing the standard (or to retire it). There would be significant overhead to try to re-open the book and make changes. Given that there hasn’t been any traffic on this list for a year or so, I’m thinking that there is not strong interest from the community either way. If that’s true, I’m going to suggest that CCSDS simply refresh the current version of the specification, since SCPS-TP *IS* used in commercial products *AND* refreshing the specification gives a slightly nicer place for the IANA TCP Options that implement SCPS-specific features to point to. I would be interested in any thoughts on this topic, particularly if some other standards body would be interested in picking up and maintaining the specification. The timeframe for this is probably in the 2—4 weeks range. I’d like to make a formal recommendation to the CCSDS Space Internetworking Systems Area Director (Scott Burleigh, cc’ed) by mid-November. v/r, --keith Dr. Keith Scott Office: +1.703.983.6547 Chief Engineer, Communications Network Engineering & Analysis Fax: +1.703.983.7142 Advanced Data Transport Capability Area Lead Email: kscott at mitre.org The MITRE Corporation M/S J500 7515 Colshire Drive McLean, VA 22102 MITRE self-signs its own certificates.
