Hello Everyone,
Thank you for joining the call today. Here are notes from our mtg today ahead of our F2F coming up in late October.
Attendees:
* Jeremy Myers, Jacob Trull, Joseph Simon, Enrioc Chies, Walt Lindblom, Sandy George, Ken Fisher, Jeremy Mayer, Rebecca Sirmons, Beth St. Peter.
Discussion:
Video Quality:
* Jacob is in process of updating the spreadsheet (what clips we have vs use cases). It will be helpful to know which are cleared via strives or in work.
* Gap we have is an crew within vehicle scene. We have a clip from Artemis 2 (h.265, 2160p30, 8 bit, 4:2:0 high bit rate ~150Mbps with Z9 with crew in cabin showing multiple national flags moving) which is not idea bc it is not raw but best we have currently. Obtaining a clip in Orion mock up is doable (mock up has less on walls, not as busy of scene), but not for a while and def not before fall session. This has been a request via STTR, so there is an interest to hold as open item to collect when able.
* Jacob will route the A2 clip through strives.
* We will have the usecase/clip spreadsheet updated and each file to nail down the file set. Will bring extra content as back up.
* Stretch goal (prior to mtg) is to have at least one clip ran through the compression options to show VMAF, DMOS and JND. Walt with assist Jacob starting 9/11 to start activity.
* Storage of content:
* Jeremy Myers/Jacob Trull reported an initiative at KSC to possibly store content and make it publicly available. Headed up by Jonathan Pryor. Promising conversation thus far more to come.
* Jeremy P Mayer reported it may be an option to investigate with EBU. They have opened up data publicly. Jeremy will reach out and see what he can find. Ref EBU (European broadcast union) https://qc.ebu.io/
DTN Book:
* No update since Falk was unable to join.
Voice Book:
* Walt completed his review through document (looks very out of date, not familiar w/ technical content). Sandy is close to completing her review, getting close to have a comment back. Walt/Sandy know enough to be dangerous. NASA does not have voice expert to offer time toward this at the moment.
* Falk is best expert we have within the working group.
Additional topics for the Fall session, open topics (request team members read up and be prepared to consider) :
* Immersive imagery (what is ESA doing/have they done)
* AI compression (TR11, Microsoft, others) and our position on handling this methodology with video quality book
