Hi Tomaso,

Subject: RE: CCSDS CFDP WG Meeting - Summary
Hi Felix,
Thank you for the detailed summary. Just two minor points:
1) The request to start the CESG poll for the magenta publication was already issued weeks ago. I think the ball now is to the tech editor to format the document for the remaining approvals. I'd be more in favour of doing these formatting after all approvals, but given the fact there is no major urgency for this book probably we can wait. If you want instead to be published asap, I can try to take some fast lane...
2) For the agency review of CFDP, do you think the final version could be ready before the end of the year?
Regards,
Tomaso

Subject: CCSDS CFDP WG Meeting - Summary
Dear All,
We have had a short but productive meetings. Here's a short summary:
- There is an intention to finish up the remaining activities of the WG (i.e., finalisation of CFDP B6 Blue Book) asap (~ Fall 2026) and then put the group into a dormant state
- The UT Layer Magenta Book has been finalised, all RIDs responded and Tomaso will initiate CESG poll for publication
- We want once more through the CFDP B6 draft which is essentially ready. Two minor changes/additions have been agreed:
o Handling of cases where one side is requesting or sending Keep-Alive PDU but the other side is not supporting needs to be addressed (Unsupported Feature Fault)
o Introduction of a new condition code 'protocol error' which should be included in an EOF (cancel) in all cases where an implementation cannot parse a received PDU (like a not supported CFDP version or a malformed PDU)
- ESA will perform these and a couple of editorial changes and submit then the book to initiate agency review
- ESA / NASA MSFC (ie Josh) will implement the changes; ESA will provide a detailed list of all the required changes to its current B5 version and the related test cases; these can be used as a basis for the yellow book
- Yellow book creation / interoperability testing is expected to start Q1/2026
Regards,
Felix
