[SIS-CFDPV1] CFDPv1 working group

Oh,

somebody is interested:

Distributed CFDP in the sense of cross-station support and real-time
protocol closure (CFDP Class 2) via the Mission Operations Centre while
the downlink data rate is much higher then the available terrestrial data
rate. Offline file reconstruction in the Payload Data Ground Segment.

Regards,
Felix

Hi,
What do you mean by distributed CFDP? In the sense of cross-station CFDP
support with associated buffering?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Dear Scott,

I agree with your proposal to keep the WG in hibernation.

Regarding a virtual meeting, we have conducted some internal work on a
"Distributed CFDP Concept" to cover the needs of our upcoming Earth
Observation missions with very high downlink rates. While we currently
believe that this concept does not (necessarily) require changes to the
CFDP standard itself, it might be interesting to present the concept to
the working group.

Actually, we aim at standardising a Return CFDP PDU Cross-Support Service
to support this concept. This would be under the responsibility of the
CSTS WG where Holger Dreihahn already presented the concept during the
last meeting. Nevertheless, it is of course important, to define this
service in close collaboration with the CFDP WG (if there is interest).

Regards,
Felix

Hi, all. With the CCSDS fall meetings coming up soon, I would like us to
reach some consensus on next steps for the CFDP Revisions Working Group.
Because all items of the WG?s Charter have been completed, I don?t plan to
schedule a virtual meeting of the WG next month; the only question on the
table, I think, is whether to terminate the WG at this point or instead to
place it in a ?dormant? (hibernation) state, much like the Voice WG.

The SIS WG chairs agree that the latter is preferable: more work on CFDP
will become necessary at some point in the future, and the administrative
procedures for starting up a new working group are time-consuming.
Resuming the operations of a dormant WG to address new issues is vastly
easier.

But if any of you all believe that the CFDP Revisions Working Group should
simply be terminated altogether at this time, please speak up.
