Dear Team,

I was finally able to get logged in to WebEx, by around 730 AM. Ramon was there, both Fred and Christian had other issues and Costin was on vacation I believe. Robert logged in briefly, but did not contribute.

We mostly talked about the issues that Ramon has identified in trying to tackle the rewrites of the existing Connectivity Viewpoint to align with our new needs to incorporate a Physical Viewpoint that can also accommodate, as needed, Structural, Electrical, Power, Thermal, Propulsive, etc “aspects”.   The following consideration were touched upon during the discussion;

  1. Current RASDS has the Connectivity Viewpoint which is all about “physical elements that operate in space, where connections between elements, the physics of motion, and interactions with forces in the external environment are considered. The Connectivity Viewpoint deals with the composition of these physical elements and their connections and interactions “
  2. The terms Nodes and Links are introduced as are the “nodes, links, computational and data transport functions, external forces, and other considerations related to the engineering of data system functionality and performance ”, as opposed to other aspects of Physical Nodes which are mentioned, but not address within the core RASDS.
  3. The issue, of course, is that the Connectivity View is the only place where these Physical Nodes and Physical Links are defined at all, and we now have the need to peel this aprat so that we can also associate these other physical attributes with these Nodes and Connectors.
  4. So the issue that Ramon is dealing with is how best to do this so that it continues to work for Connectivity, which is what CCSDS really needs, and also works for the other Physical Viewpoint “aspects” that SC14 needs. This might be a new “core” Physical Viewpoint, with “sub-viewpoints” for these other attributes, or just an expandible set of new Viewpoints, that draw via correspondence from the Physical Viewpoint, but get invoked as needed.
  5. Ramon will be developing an approach to share with us. We also need to look at the latest ISO 42010 to see if the term “aspect” is defined in such a way that we can use it for this purpose without running cross-wise of their definition.

Cheers, Peter

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [Sea-sa] Issues connecting today - RASDS meeting

Dear RASDS team,

We have a Webex scheduled today, but I am having issues connecting and starting Webex. Apparently I got locked out of my account and will need time to get this cleared up. Blame it on my foggy head from being sick the whole last week.

I’ll try and see if I can get this cleared up and restart by 730 Pacific.

Humble apologies.

Peter
