Subject: [Sea-sa] CCSDS System Architecture BoF meeting at Pasadena

Dear SAWG Colleagues,

We will be holding a two day SAWG BoF session at the upcoming CCSDS Working Meetings in Pasadena to see if we can reach agreement on re-strting the SAWG. We will be continuing the work that was started during the London BoF meeting, addressing the following topics:

  * RASDS refresh, with new viewpoints (service, operations, and physical) a SysML/UML mapping annex (and possibly a RASDS Profile)
  * A CCSDS core ontology (based on RASDS terms) and a few key domain ontologies, using / extending and expanding those terms, all placed on-line for query and update
  * A defined process for updating and extending the ontology, suitable for use by the other CCSDS WGs (and posisbly SC14)
  * An XML construction guideline leveraging the terms from the ontology and developing it's own set of CCSDS core XML schema and validation tools
  * A CCSDS Reference Architecture, as requested by the CMC, showing all standards and interfaces, based on RASDS

We have been holding some working discussions with the ISO TC20 / SC14, the CCSDS sister organization in ISO. We hope to forge an on-going relationship with them since they share an interest in RASDS, the proposed extensions, and the related ontology work. We expect to have more to say about that when we meet.

Please join us for the full working session. We need to work toward a common agreement of what the restarted Wg will try and accomplish and to develop a revised WG Charter.

Regards, Peter
