Dear Dan and CCSDS colleagues,
Please find attached to this mail my comments (word revision) on the document "Draft Reference Architecture for Information Architecture/Management".
I have some troubles with it for the following main reasons:
- we said at Toulouse meeting that this document will be split into two or three documents. At least one focusing on the "Information management service" that will allow to have a standardised service for accessing some information. By now, we have a greenbook that is just an "informaitonal report" that will not be used to implement any service (correct me if I am wrong ?).
- a lot of errors are present in the document on definition of basic concepts. Moreover, some "new concepts" are introduced but I don't understand why we need them (e.g : SIO, CIO, ...).
- we need a service definition in the "information management" scope (description such as the "SLE Service Management" one) and I have some difficulties to understand the way choosen to define a such service. Perhaps, CCSDS lacks some homogeneous way for describing services.
- we are far from the "market industry" best practice in defining service as such it is proposed. We should be aware not defining new "abstract" things. For example, we use "object" term differently from common "object" languages (an object should be simply an instance of a class).
I will recommand to only have the "service" part to be pursued (if it is expected by some CCSDS users - e.g IOAG) into a future red book and cancel the other parts.
Best regards.

All --
Chris Mattmann noticed that the PDF seemed to have some corruption so I'm
sending a new PDF (along with the Word file).
Best regards,
Dan.
