Here is the "simple report" on Nav WG projects in progress as of our 22-Jan-2025 telecon. Overall progress is modest for various reasons (short time since Fall Meetings, holidays, etc.).  NOTE: This document-based quick report of WG status is something that Mario Merri requested when he was the Area Director. Marc Duhaze requested continuing it while was he was Acting AD, and Daniel Fischer also requested it be continued. Let me know whether or not you find it useful. I usually provide it after each of our WG telecons.

500.0 Navigation Data - Definitions and Conventions Green Book (V.4): Exploration of a concept related to transitioning Nav Green Book material from a static Green Book to SANA registries is in progress (much of this material could migrate into the CCSDS Glossary Registries). We reviewed a mock-up of the concept with the SANA Team during the 2024 Fall Meetings and the reception was favorable. We continue to explore the concept.


503.0 Tracking Data Message (TDM V.3): Internal WG review of the Pink Book Draft 2.0.2 recently completed and work on a draft 2.0.3 is in progress. We had several requests for extensions of the standard during the November meetings. The editor was unable to attend our January meeting so there was no update on status during the telecon.

505.0 Navigation Data Messages XML Specification (NDM/XML V.4): RID resolution for the NDM/XML V.4 document is in progress. Prototype testing is complete. We will soon present a request for “Approval to Publish” polling.

507.0 Navigation Events Message (NEM V.1): Initial implementation of the XML apparatus for the NEM was presented during the telecon. Progress is significant. We anticipate a White Book prior to the Spring Meetings.

507.1 Launch Data Message: Progress is a bit slow on this project due to dependencies on the new Navigation Composite Message project.

508.0 Conjunction Data Message (CDM V.2): RIDs have been applied to the Agency Review Pink Book, and a draft Prototype Test Plan has been produced (now in review). XML schema development is nearly complete.

508.1 Re-Entry Data Message (RDM V.1): This was published in Fall 2019. The 5 Year Review discussion will be conducted during our February 2025 telecon to determine whether we want to Retire, Reconfirm, or Revise.

508.2 Fragmentation Data Message: Progress is a bit slow on this project due to dependencies on the new Navigation Composite Message project.

5xx.0 ("xx" TBD): Navigation Composite Message: This recently approved new project has been added to the list of Active projects in the CWE (a document number has not yet been assigned). Serious discussion and planning commenced during the London meetings. A White Book 1.0 is anticipated prior to the Spring 2025 Meetings.

Recently published/reconfirmed standards/other documents with no action necessary: 500.2 Navigation Data Messages Overview Green Book (V.3), 502.0 Orbit Data Message (V.3), 504.0 Attitude Data Messages (V.2), 509.0 Pointing Request Message (V.1).
