Here is the "simple report" on Nav WG projects in progress as of our 09-Oct-2024 telecon. Overall progress is modest given summer vacations, other commitments, budget constraints, and such.

500.0 Navigation Data - Definitions and Conventions Green Book (V.4): Exploration of a concept related to transitioning Nav Green Book material from a static Green Book to SANA registries is in progress (much of this material could migrate into the CCSDS Glossary Registries). We reviewed a mock-up of the concept, and it looks promising. We have a timeslot on the Fall Meeting agenda to discuss further with the SANA Team.


503.0 Tracking Data Message (TDM V.3): Internal WG review of the Pink Book Draft 2.0.2 continues and will complete soon. Some reviewers are still submitting comments (including yours truly, delinquent). The editor was unable to attend so there was no detailed update in status.

505.0 Navigation Data Messages XML Specification (NDM/XML V.4): The NDM/XML V.4 document Agency Review concluded 15-Jul-2024 with a handful of RIDs. RID resolution in progress (slowly), and the Prototype Test Plan is in progress (slowly). Progress has been slow due to budget constraints, but will pick up now that FY25 has commenced.

507.0 Navigation Events Message (NEM V.1): Initial White Book was discussed at the Spring 2024 meetings. No recent progress. An updated draft is anticipated prior to the Fall Meetings.

507.1 Launch Data Message: No progress has been reported recently due to many responsibilities. (Note that this condition affects several WG members.)

508.0 Conjunction Data Message (CDM V.2): The Agency Review concluded 2024-05-31. RID Resolution is in progress. Prototype Test Plan is in progress (about 33% complete). XML schema development is nearly complete.

508.1 Re-Entry Data Message (RDM V.1): This was published in Fall 2019. The 5 Year Review discussion will be conducted in the Fall Meetings to determine whether we want to Retire, Reconfirm, or Revise.

508.2 Fragmentation Data Message: No progress has been reported recently.

5xx.0 ("xx" TBD): Navigation Composite Message: The CMC "New Project" Poll closed 12-Jun-2024 with 7 votes to "Adopt" and the project is approved. It has been added to the list of Active projects in the CWE. Serious discussion and planning will commence during the London meetings.

Recently published/reconfirmed standards/other documents with no action necessary: 500.2 Navigation Data Messages Overview Green Book (V.3), 502.0 Orbit Data Message (V.3), 504.0 Attitude Data Messages (V.2), 509.0 Pointing Request Message (V.1).

In addition, we discussed the Agenda for the Fall 2024 Meetings Draft 2, so people could take that into consideration for their travel, etc. A few changes were made and a Draft 3 will be distributed as necessary.
