Over the weekend of December 27, 2024, the Web Support team will be migrating the CWE CCSDS website (https://cwe.ccsds.org<https://urldefense.us/v3/__https:/cwe.ccsds.org__;!!PvBDto6Hs4WbVuu7!KeRbnC3jzuuWdEvke3fx7uII5Llhk3Gm8CCR6D6GvFnyzOwSGYR8lZB13ZNx9b5jhKgHbHjZbZTDSCokzGtm0F-WI4Wo$>) to SharePoint Online and implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).  During this migration and update process, please be aware that you will be unable to access the website and its content. As part of these updates, you will be able to access the CCSDS CWE using your NASA Account.

What to Expect?
On Monday, December 30, 2024, you will receive an email from the Web Support team containing the following information:

  *   Validation that the migration is complete

  *   Directions on how to use your NASA Account to access the CCSDS CWE
Note: Non-NASA Users will be receiving a new CCSDS CWE Login.

What Is MFA?
The required U.S. directive on Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) aims to enhance the website's security and protect it from cybersecurity threats. MFA is a security process that requires users to present a combination of two or more different factors to verify their identity when logging in.

How Does MFA Work?
MFA requires users to provide two or more authentication factors at login to confirm their identity. Each additional authentication factor enhances security. The MFA login process will involve presenting a combination of a username and password along with one of the following:

  *   A code sent via the Microsoft Authenticator Application<https://urldefense.us/v3/__https:/www.microsoft.com/en-us/security/mobile-authenticator-app__;!!PvBDto6Hs4WbVuu7!KeRbnC3jzuuWdEvke3fx7uII5Llhk3Gm8CCR6D6GvFnyzOwSGYR8lZB13ZNx9b5jhKgHbHjZbZTDSCokzGtm0Pi9bY_O$>;

  *   A code sent via SMS (text message)

  *   Response to a phone call on a mobile or office phone

Why Is MFA Important?
Implementing MFA makes it significantly harder for unauthorized individuals to access information systems. Attackers are increasingly adept at guessing or acquiring passwords. With advanced password-cracking techniques and the availability of high-powered computing, logging in with just a password alone is no longer sufficient. MFA provides an additional layer of security, making it much more challenging for adversaries to gain access to accounts.
