Dear Dan,

I know you've already decided to remove the STM section, but I confirmed that removing the STM section is fine with me too.

Best Regards,
Hideaki

Thanks all for your many inputs.

I note that Alain had an interesting idea, which was that (paraphrasing) sharing of matrices could potentially be generalized such that a covariance exchange could be used to share an STM as well. But since STMs are not symmetric (if I recall properly) and covariances are LTM, that’d probably not work. But it was a novel idea, much appreciated.

I’ve decided to remove the STM section for this first version of the OCM, to be considered as a potential future enhancement.

Dan

And also fine with me.

NAV WG Team:

Question regarding the new CCSDS Orbit Data Message (ODM) we are creating: Would anyone be heartbroken if we were to delete the State Transition Matrix data section? I worked to get that included so that we could map covariances from one point to another and perturbations and/or small DVs downstream, but I’m now wondering if our projected use of this message feature warrants the effort and complications we can assume this will introduce into message adoption and testing.

Does anyone in our group feel strongly that this STM message component should be retained?

Thanks,

Dan
