[Moims-mp] SpaceOps conference paper on the MP&S standard

Hi Peter,

Thank you very much also from my side!

First, I very much like the idea of the abstract of the abstract in italics before the more detailed information 😊

However, I would rather write everything in present tense than using the will-future, even though the paper doesn’t exist yet of course, i.e. “introduces”, “are”/“is” instead of “will introduce”, “will be”

One other thing that I noticed is, that the title is very, very long. Here would be some ideas to have it more to the point: 

*	The CCSDS Mission Planning and Scheduling standard: Getting started with this practical guide
*	A practical guide for using the CCSDS Mission Planning and Scheduling standard
*	A practical guide for getting started with the CCSDS Mission Planning and Scheduling standard
*	The CCSDS Mission Planning and Scheduling standard: Practical Guidelines
*	The CCSDS Mission Planning and Scheduling standard: a practical guide for getting started

Or some other, similar variation? However, that’s of course up to you in the end.

Furthermore, I collected some comments and suggestions for minor enhancements (even though it is definitely very well readable and structured of course!):

In the second paragraph, I think “is highly configurable, where it is possible to…”, probably what you wanted to say is rather “is highly configurable wherever possible, to…” or “is highly configurable, in terms of tailoring where it is possible, to” – or at least with these additions and additional comma it reads more understandable to me?

Then again, for the MB, perhaps once “will be described” is the more correct expression taking into consideration the CCSDS processes, but thereafter I would also always write in present tense “which provides”, “use cases are descreibed“, “that support” etc. to give the reader more confidence in its existence already now 😉  And also for the GB “is currently updated”.

To this paragraph it could be added, “The paper shall give an overview of this, and an important first-hand preview of these contents.” or something similar – so that it is clear that the paper will show already a bunch of the helpful information and not only describing that there is a MB and a GB update in progress.

Paragraph on the prototyping: Again “provides”, and to the first sentence, “and lessons learnt from the implementation.” could be added.

And then “work has already been performed and which is publicly available and could provide a jump-start” should probably be changed a bit. First, it sounds as if the work on the prototypes is meant, when not knowing what you actually mean, and the “and which” is not perfect. How about: “work has already been performed to make one of the two prototypes publicly available, which could provide…”

Plus, agreed to Guillermo’s suggestion for the closing sentence.

Please feel free to include or ignore whatever you like 😉

The closing paragraph is not so strong, I believe:

“Finally, the paper will provide the outlook for the standard, in particular from the perspective of the agencies involved in its definition, on how it is foreseen to adopt the standard in the relevant mission planning processes.

“

Maybe rather than “provide the outlook for the standard” I would suggest “”the paper will discuss on future implementations and evolution of the standard…”. This may seem more clear.
