Minutes
1. Prototyping status
The Yellow Book draft 2.2 is available on the GDrive, with detailed
specifications in the XL spreadsheet (v05).
Work at DLR is expected to resume now, with personnel being available
again. Overall progress is estimated at 33%. Some feedback on the BB was
provided to Roger.
Work at ESA is progressing nominally. The access problem to the Github
project was resolved. Overall progress is estimated > 50%.
Peter presented an example of the MPSPlanningRequestFile in XML. This was
based on the Planning Request definitions from the Yellow Book. Feedback
was provided to Roger, see below. Next steps are the implementation of the
MPSPlanningResponseFile and the MPSPlanFile.
The issue was raised that the current prototyping effort focuses on the
Services and only the attributes of the Information Model that are
essential for these Services are being verified. This approach does not
cover some of the complex constructs allowed in the Information Model
(e.g. nesting/hierarchy of actions and constraints). It was suggested that
in addition to the prototyping, also the validation of the Information
Model using actual mission data would be beneficial. The WG agreed with
this suggestion, but it was noted that this work should not become part of
the Yellow Book.
The implementation of a real mission case could be labour intensive. In
addition, mission planning data should then be made available by the
member agencies, preferably data that can be disclosed in the WG
(alternatively, the agency could perform an internal review and only
disclose the results). The following agencies may be able to support this
validation effort (no commitment yet):
- ESA/ESAC: Dave/Peter: using e.g. ExoMars TGO (or Rosetta?) data, with
possible support of a person at ESAC
- DLR: Christoph/Maria to check what mission data could be used and if
manpower would be available
- NASA: Tony to check, it may probably not be possible to disclose mission
planning data
2. Blue Book status
Latest Blue Book draft G2 and EA model draft V are available on the
GDrive. XML Schemas generated from the EA model are also available here.
A new draft of the MAL Blue Book was made available, Roger to review.
Peter provided feedback on the Blue Book and XML Schemas, based on the
work on the XML testing. Some issues were discussed during the meeting,
the remainder are of editorial nature and will be handled offline.
3. Blue Book Agencies Review planning
The MP&S Blue Book is nearing completion, however there are currently
assumptions on dependencies (in particular the evolution of the MAL) as
well as open work (the prototyping is still ongoing, the MP&S service
specification can only be finalised when the MAL API updates are received
from SM&C WG). However, the WG agrees to continue with the Agencies Review
of the BB in its current state, allowing for feedback on the Blue Book,
with the Service Specifications, Information Model and XML Schemas are
largely complete. The current planning is that the Blue Book and SANA
registry artefacts can be made available in April to MOIMS-AD for further
processing. The WG accepts that it is likely that a second Agencies Review
may be required later this year, to cover potential updates arising from
the MAL finalisation and the completion of the prototypes, in addition to
the feedback from the first Agencies Review.
4. AOB
The CCSDS Spring Meeting 2022 will again be held as Virtual event. The
MP&S WG meeting planning will compiled once the overall Spring meeting
timeline is confirmed by CCSDS.
The next MP&S WG meeting is planned for Tuesday 12 April 2022, 16:00 -
18:00 CET. Peter to send the meeting invitation.
Best regards,
Peter
