Minutes
1. MP&S Blue Book update
Roger has provided on the GDrive an update of the MP&S Blue Book (draft G)
and Enterprise Architect model (draft U), including the XML Schemas for
file based exchange.
Some open points as provided by Roger (email 10/02/2022) were discussed.
The following was agreed in the WG:
1. The WG agreed with option b) A supertype is defined to allow the
three different Update structures to be supported through polymorphism. An
additional key shall be provided to the service to allow the subscription
to one or more update structure types.
2. The WG agreed with the Position and Direction structure updates. This
will allow for a simplification of the Constraints and Triggers, but not
on the Repetitions. It was mentioned that the base classes in Triggers and
Repetitions shall as such as possible capture common attributes at the
highest possible level.
3. The proposal from Roger (annex in the BB) for the representation of
literals was discussed but not yet conclusive. WG members to further
review and provide feedback on the issue. To be consolidated in the next
WG meeting.
4. It was agreed to represent these enumerated types simply as Strings
in the Information Model. This has the drawback that e.g. with the XML
Schemas no type checking will be performed. This can however be added as
part of the tailoring for a specific mission, where the enumerations can
be added to the XML Schemas. This mission specific tailoring shall be
explained in the BB.
5. Peter showed the first results of a conversion tool that is now able
to improve the structure of the XML Schemas produced by EA, in particular
for the List types, where the elements will be encapsulated in an
additional element level. Christoph mentioned that when using XML Spy,
this feature would not be needed. However, it was acknowledged that in
case no tool is available, the XML files would be better readable with the
improved structure. In addition, the conversion tool can be used to fix
certain XML Schema features (like patterns) that do not seem to work with
the EA generator.
In addition, an issue with the PUB-SUB was addressed by SM&C and the
impact on MP&S was discussed and it was agreed that the simplifications
proposed by SM&C do not have significant impact for the MP&S Services.
2. Planning and next steps
The MP&S Blue Book is expected to be ready for Agencies Review by the end
of March. However, CESG has raised its concerns regarding the parallel
review of both the MAL BB and MP&S BB, as there is a dependency here. The
decision will ultimately be with MOIM-AD how to proceed with the MP&S BB
review. From the WG perspective, the MP&S BB should be finalised as far as
possible, and the current assumptions on the expected MAL updates shall be
listed.
3. CCSDS Spring Meeting
CCSDS Spring Meeting 2022 will take place in Huntsville, Alabama from 9-13
May. For the moment, the assumption is that the meetings will take place
in-person. As such, WG members are invited to make their travel
arrangements, however with sufficient flexibility, as in the previous two
years the meetings were changed into teleconferencing only on short
notice. It shall be ensured that there are adequate teleconferencing/video
conferencing facilities available in the meeting rooms, such that the
meetings can be followed remotely by the ones that are not able to travel
to Huntsville. Could anyone who will be restricted by his organisation to
travel in-person please let me (Peter) know?
4. AOB
The next MP&S WG meeting is planned for Tuesday 22 March 2022, 16:00 -
18:00 CET. Peter to send the meeting invitation.
Best regards,
Peter
