All,

Since I am not sure that Lou has an access to email now, can someone
in Toulouse please print out the following and give it to Lou? I'll
also be available for the telecon if I have the details on the number.

   Betty

Back to page 16, Table 1, Use of substitutionGroup for element
substitution and
xsi:type for type needs to be explained somewhere, maybe a footnote. The terms
may be too "low level" to just pop up here without explanation. In a
Substitution Group, the instance is formed by substituting these from one
declaration into another. The xsi:type declaration must be used to substitute
the type. These are features to promote object oriented use. Extensibility is
achieved in the types and attributes use, such as a coding of the allowed
values for the elements and attributes.

If the schema drawings are made with XMLSPY it would be good to
acknowledge this
somewhere in the document and explain the heuristics.

In 10.1 OVERVIEW
Is this specifying of implementation dependent mechanisms being modeled with
Java? Is interfaceDef an interface declaration in source code? Can a
Mechanism be in object (machine) code as embedded binary? It seems to be by
10.3.2 located in a java class file. These would need to be compiled for each
system, though Java need not be rewritten, to be really "executable". Will
what the behaviors do specifically be described in the XML eventually?

- WSDL is another acronym for the list.

Using XML involves combining specifications. Below is an effort to divide the
XML language into some pieces that include the XFDU work. The graph is meant
roughly to show a relationship between the separate entities. All these pieces
have a "life" of their own while not independent.

                                data syntax types
                                       \ / \ /
                                 XML doc. W3C spec.
                                      / \ /
\
                           semantics rules, structures behaviors
                                          \ /
                                       CCSDS spec.

If you put the above in New Roman Times it will be more readable.
