[Moims-dai] Registering twice

Hi,

Yes, that is the normal process, but I understand that a special process was set up for the CCSDS and only the non-US folks need to register separately with NIST. I think part of the difference is that CCSDS meeting people are using a specific entrance.

Peace and joy,

Most events I have attended at NIST have required advanced registration - US Citizen or not. If they don't have you on the list, they won't have a badge waiting for you.

You're probably right, but they were happy to take my registration.

My (bogus?) insight was based my memory of procedures we used to go through for OSI meetings, sponsored by IEEE. Certainly the CWE does specify non-US persons, but I'd already registered at NIST back in February when the first announcements came out (and before the CWE page existed).

Registering as a Guest with NIST:

Please do not register with NIST until after you have registered on the CWE. All meeting attendees, IOAG MOSSG, Technical Plenary, and CESG, who are not US citizens, will need to register with NIST on the NIST Conference Registration Website after completing registration on the CWE.

I'd forgotten about this quirk of using NIST for our meetings.

You have to register twice: once for NIST, once for your meeting sponsor (in our case) CCSDS. The CCSDS CWE page <https://public.ccsds.org/meetings/2018Spring/default.aspx> has the details.

I've done both now.
