[Moims-dai] Reminder of Skype call today (replaces the Webex call)

Hi All,

At the DAI WG meeting this week we agreed to Resolving SC#224. As part of that update we kept “the original target of preservation”

The current definition is:

Content Information: A set of information that is the original target of preservation. It is an Information Object composed of its Content Data Object and its Representation Information.

Peace and joy,

I’m also totally opposed to changing ‘the original target of preservation’. I believe it is of very practical importance to be able to distinguish that information from other information being preserved.

John,

1. I do not recall the group accepting David's suggested change to Content Information. I, for one, am strongly opposed to removing the reference to "the original target of preservation." If we do not have a term to refer to what we are trying to preserve in the first place, the rest of the Reference Model is pretty much meaningless as far as I am concerned.

2. In the NOTE for Representation Information there are two extra words - "enable use" at the end of the paragraph that should be removed.

Hi All,

I’ve attached the current OAIS draft following last week’s call.

Parts of Suggest Change SC#224 are marked as accepted (primarily in Terminology section.) There are still a number of items to consider for SC#224 (Find “SC#224 should allow you to find them). Hopefully we can address them at today’s meeting.

For SC#224, David attached an entire Section 5 based on the previous OAIS version and Mark (and others?) commented on it and David responded to his comments. I think I have annotated the current OAIS with the current suggested updates and integrated the SC#224 updates with other SC updates. Please let me know you think I’ve dropped something along the way.

Note that a number of Mark’s comments on David’s document were comments on text from the previous version text that David did not propose updating. Those comments are not included. I believe the agreement was that if Mark felt strongly enough about updating text from the previous OAIS, then he would submit additional SCs.

Also welcome to our new ESA participants.

Peace and joy,

-JOhn

Suggested items for discussion for OAIS update, based on dealing with ones which have not been discussed in a while, and on the dependencies which have been identified. These are all the open issues so we need to resolve these to finalise the draft.

However, attendees should feel free to suggest ones to tackle first.

The discussions for each item must be time limited.

1) http://review.oais.info/show_bug.cgi?id=224 -this was discussed last week, working through the definitions and it is hoped to complete this at the meeting

a. http://review.oais.info/show_bug.cgi?id=193 – depends on 224

b. http://review.oais.info/show_bug.cgi?id=198 – depends on 224

c. http://review.oais.info/show_bug.cgi?id=195 – depends on 224

2) http://review.oais.info/show_bug.cgi?id=88

3) http://review.oais.info/show_bug.cgi?id=234 – objection to 222
