Hi,

Yes, I understand. We’ve been trying to make that point with people.

Hi John

As I recall the digital vellum made the point that things written on vellum were readable hundreds of years later.

The point I made was that even if one wrote the numbers from a data file on vellum it would not be usable years later or even right noe because there would be no semantics with the numbers - do they represent temperature, pressure etc and what units?

David

Hi David,

I haven’t looked into what he is proposing. Perhaps you could provide us with some ideas of what ideas you passed on to him previously and then we can reinforce them.

I’m assuming that Digital Vellum could be good solution for the publications subset of the archival problem.

Wishing you prosperity and peace,

I heard Vint Cerf talking about Digital Vellum previously and made the point to him that what he was talking about was no good for data.

Dear all,

I will be in Cleveland to attend the CCSDS meeting, I will not obtain a travel approval to go to GFSC but I hope we could set up a teleconference.

I hope to meet you all soon.

Best regards,

John -

I also would be interested in attending a DAI WG Meeting at GSFC on April 4th and in attending Vint Cerf's talk the same day, but would need to obtain formal travel approval to attend these events and also would need to be able to gain admittance to GSFC.

Thanks,

Bob

John,
I would forego all other forms of entertainment to seek Vint Cerf again. If you can get us into Goddard for that I'll definitely go the Colloquium.

Hi team,

Vint Cerf will be the monthly speaker at GSFC’s Engineering Colloquium. A link to the announcement is:

The date actually coincides with the scheduled Spring meetings of CCSDS in Cleveland. However, it seems that most DAI members have funding constraints or conflicting events (including some at GSFC) that are preventing attendance at Cleveland. I was thinking it might be possible to at least get a subset of the DAI WG together at GSFC. Maybe we could attend Vint Cerf’s talk together and also spend some time discussing DAI’s projects. If several of us met physically, we could probably set up a telecon to include other DAI WG members at Cleveland or other remote locations.

Who will be at Cleveland?

Who could make it to GSFC?

Wishing you prosperity and peace,

-JOhn
