Recommended timescales from CWE

Schedule milestone definitions
- Project Approved means the date of the CMC resolution which approved the
CCSDS WG to begin work on this document.
- Planned Project Start Date may be the same as above, if the WG plans to
start work immediately upon CMC approval of the project. Or it may be months
or years later,
if the WG team is postponing the start of work on the document until
resources or other prerequisites (other documents) are not expected to be in
place until a later date.
- Internal WG document development and review should be complete within 18
months of project start date
- Secretariat staff will require a minimum of 2 months to process the draft
for the first agency review (this processing will include any formatting and
approval polls
     necessary to release the draft)
- The initial formal agency review will be open for 60 days
- The WG will be expected to complete the RID review and resolution process
within 4 months following the close of an agency review
- Secretariat staff will require a minimum of 30 days to initiate a second
agency review and to ensure proper format of the draft book
- The second agency review (if warranted) will be open for 60 days
- The WG will be expected to complete the RID review and resolution process
within 4 months following the close of an agency review
- Please be sure to indicate the estimated completion date(s) for any
necessary prototyping activities
- Following successful completion of all necessary agency reviews and
prototype demonstrations, secretariat staff will require a minimum of 45
days to circulate the
final draft book to the CESG and CMC for final approval to publish

The schedule below should be completed with your best current understanding
of the document development timeframe.
Upon completion of the internal WG document development and review, the
remaining steps are fairly systematic.
However if you feel that a document may prove to be controversial among
CCSDS agencies, increased time (in excess of 4 months)
to resolve RIDs may be justified. Please make every effort to forecast these
instances as best as possible and include any
information that may aid in the CMC's understanding of your proposed
schedule in the comments field below.
Please feel free to contact Secretariat staff

have any questions regarding this form.
