Hi all,
Thank you very much for these inputs we'll be able to discuss tomorrow.
A few comments:
1. On the list of topics (from David): I agree that we should take into account other major documents that should be recommended in ILF (from other standards): Data Management Plan, Submission agreement (PAIMAS and PAIS, between Producer and Archive), Archive Support Plan (?), perimeters and links between these documents. We could also for this use the recommended documents from the RAC metrics.
2. Should the Data Management Plan define the responsabilities (such as the Long Term Archive Responsible for example If not, which document defines these roles? Should the DMP include some points such as cost? )? I guess that the project is in charge of the DMP, isn't it?
3.For Mike: in your proposed figure of the main stepas, between "operate" and "exploit": verify=validate?
Talk to you tomorrow,
Regards,
Daniele

Objet : Re: Minutes of 2th July ILF telecon
Hi everyone
1. A question for David, are the topics in your list intended to be included in the Data Management Plan? There are at least two other documents mentioned in various sources called "Submission Agreement" and "Archive Support Plan" which might include some of these topics. Formal definitions of things like SIPS are often included in separate Software Interface Specifications (SISs) or Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
I think we should come up with a scheme that identifies all these documents, how they interact and what topics go in each one.
2. I have attached an update of the LTDPCommonGuidelines.xls spreadsheet which attempts to map the PAIMAS activities to LTDP guidelines. Several activities that deal with the producer/archive interface, change control and schedule do not seem to correspond with any guidelines and are noted at the bottom of the spreadsheet.
The majority of PAIMAS activities correspond to LTDP Theme 1, PDSC content definition and appraisal. Two other guidelines 2.6 "Archives legal and contractual aspects" and 4.3 "Routine quality check" seem to correspond to most of the rest of the PAIMAS activities.
I have included a column called relevant with my guess as to whether this guideline is something that should be addressed in the ILF. My criteria was whether the guideline specifically promoted long term "preservation or utilization" of the information. I would like to see other's opinions.
Thanks, Mike
