CCSDS Colleagues,

Those of you on the "To" line are invited to attend a follow-up meeting from the October 2009 ESTEC "Super BOF" meeting. This has subsequently been designated as a "Super SIG" activity but I'm using the term "Super BOF" for this email for continuity purposes. The Super BOF activities at the ESTEC meetings resulted in two efforts: a CCSDS Reference Architecture (RA) BOF and an Information Service Architecture (ISA) BOF. I was "fortunate" enough to be named the chair for the Reference Architecture BOF (and by extension more or less the Super BOF chair) while Dan Crichton is the chair of the ISA BOF.

The RA BOF was not fully formed until January of this year and has yet to meet face-to-face. Consequently, even though there are sessions for the RA BOF earlier in the week, the proposal is to meet later in the week to allow the RA BOF time to further its concept development before discussing with the Super BOF membership. The proposal is to meet on Thursday morning, 06 May 2010. I will circulate a proposed agenda in the near future, but it will likely include:

o Brief recap of ESTEC Super BOF Meeting

o RA BOF:

§ BOF Progress relative to the goals elucidated at the ESTEC Meetings

§ BOF Concepts and results so far

o ISA BOF:

§ BOF Concepts and results so far

o General Conclusion/Discussion

I will endeavor to distribute appropriate meeting material prior to the proposed meeting. May I ask that you please indicate your intention re attending the Super BOF follow-up session? Thank you. I believe that despite the relatively late start and lack of face-to-face meetings that the RA BOF has made good progress. The ISA BOF also appears to have made good progress. I look forward to discussing the results of these efforts to date with you at the upcoming CCSDS technical meetings.

Best regards,

-Erik
